The first attempt to write a piece of any length came in 7th or 8th grade when I wrote about a slumber party that was kidnapped. There was a good "bad boy" but I never got past the actual kidnapping. Those girls are still stranded somewhere in Minnesota. I think dealing with mean girls in high school triggered that.
Then in high school I wrote a story from an assassin's point of view who is trying to kill the President. (I think Allen Drury has something like that.) The assassin is killed but not before he blow the inaugural platform and robot pieces go flying. I am not sure what triggered that but Mrs. D, the English teacher thought it was good.
Ideas come easy, writing is a little harder and editing stinks. The same applies to coming up with this website on my own. But I came across this quote by Neil Gaiman which I am trying to remember as I try new things:
I hope that in this year to come, you make mistakes. Because if you are making mistakes, then you are making new things, trying new things, learning, living, pushing yourself, changing yourself, changing your world. You're doing things you've never done before, and more importantly, you're doing something.
I am making mistakes but I am doing something.
