How Do You Learn To Forgive?
The Story behind Every Woman's Tale....
Many years ago I worked in corporate America. One day a young clerk who worked as a filing clerk came in with a black eye. It turned out that her husband had beaten her up. I don't know the details, but someone in HR called her family back East and made arrangements for her to get out of the town. I often wondered what happened to that young girl. At the time an older woman related that her father-in-law told her "If my son ever hits you, that's his fault. If he hits you again, that's your fault for staying." I can't quite figure out whether I accept that statement, but I still find it interesting. Around the same time a friend of mine had discovered that her husband was having an affair. They reconciled (for a time) but I remember her telling me over drinks that she would never forgive him or forget it. I wondered at the time whether their marriage would last and what it would take to be able to forgive. These two events triggered the beginning of Every Woman's Tale. |
